I have traveled far in my journey as a mother. As my little one grew, I grew inside. She has been a teacher in many ways. My younger daughter is a child with different learning abilities. It was very upsetting and disturbing in the beginning when as parents we had to assess and label her. As we were bewildered and stuck thinking of many options, we chanced upon new ways of dealing with the situation, new ways of looking at ourselves and the world.
Why should a different learning style be unacceptable? Our daughter has many unique abilities that we as adults lacked. She questioned our behavior- her referral word was KINDNESS - she wanted everyone around to be kind and truthful. She hated anyone being angry at someone and immediately voiced it. She is extremely intuitive and catches the emotional climate easily.
So we've learned that while, one thing she may lack-the way to learn in the structural world of instructions to students - we have found that she is a teacher in the real sense of Life itself. We all changed at home trying to "be kind to one another...because we love each other". She aims high to be a Gemologist and a singer. I'm sure that as we are guiding her through the journey in the educational system, she has more to teach us along the way in more important aspects of Life-"Soul learning through love and acceptance"- she has opened our eyes & unlocked our hearts.
